Libraries & Laptops

The SAF has launched a brand new pilot program called Libraries & Laptops that we're excited to share with you! We've partnered with the Grand Rapids Public Library to make sure Grand Rapids Public Schools students have available a computer with internet access, in a safe environment, outside of school hours and the school building.  The program is geared toward blended learning and other high school students.

Beginning in November, the program allows GRPS students access to new laptops in five GRPL branches across the city: Main, Seymour, Van Belkum, West Leonard and Yankee Clipper.  All five branches offer both evening and weekend hours.  Students sign in with a GRPS student ID card and can then use the laptop anywhere in the library to work on school assignments.  Laptops are set up to easily access the sites students use for school work.

Our sincerest thanks to the staff of the Grand Rapids Public Library, who've been integral to helping us launch and maintain this fantastic program for our students!

*UPDATE* - Due to popular demand, a laptop center was opened at the Van Belkum branch of the Grand Rapids Public Libraries in January. Check back for more updates as this program continues to grow!
