A New Beginning

11-year-old Tychius is a student at Dickinson Elementary. In the last year, he's gone from being what teachers describe as a "bundle of fire" to a star student. After leaving his elementary to attend Kentwood schools for a year, Tychius is back at Dickinson because the team of teachers there believed in his potential. 

Tychius' story is about the power of belief. For a child who had no trouble getting into trouble, many would have given up or failed to see his promise. Fortunately for Tychius, the teachers at Dickinson surrounded him with their kindness and support. Between the dedicated team of teachers and an engaged and loving mother, Tychius is thriving. Their support has made all the difference in the world.  Four of his teachers came to MindShare to stand by Tychius and help tell his story.

The hard work and commitment paid off. Tychius was recently named Student of the Month. Though some may have thought it a joke, the people who knew him best say that Tychius has earned the honor. And when his name was announced, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
