Stuff the Bus

Six years ago, Amway, Fifth Third Bank and Meijer recognized a need – many area middle school students were not coming to school on the first day ready to learn.  These students couldn’t afford basic school supplies and personal care items necessary to be successful in middle school.  Quickly joined by Craig’s Cruisers, Dean Transportation and Cintas, Stuff the Bus was born.

A Lasting Legacy

It is impossible to measure the impact of Peter and Joan Secchia’s investment in the SAF on the students of Grand Rapids over the years. As a founding member and former board president, Joan recognized a need in our community and stepped up to help. Joan helped build the Foundation into a vibrant entity supporting the children of Grand Rapids Public Schools through five areas of impact. The SAF’s mission became Joan’s as well: to ensure all GRPS students have the tools and experiences they need to learn.
