Recent Grants:
$25,000 to Blandford Nature Center to support a classroom experience for every first and third grade classroom in Grand Rapids Public Schools during the 2015-2016 school year. Teachers can choose from a menu of learning programs offered at Blandford, including: “Animal Adaptions, “Predator-Prey Simulation” and much more. We expect over 2,000 students to benefit from this program. This program is expanded for 2015/2016 to provide for a longer enrichment trip experience for third grade students.
“A deer can fly, and help Santa,”one first grader from Cesar Chavez Elementary offered in response to a discussion about Michigan wildlife during a November, 2014 trip to Blandford thanks to the Student Advancement Foundation.
$3,000 Bussing Grant to Grand Rapids Public Schools to pay for transportation expenses associated with the Blandford enrichment trips.
